Story of "Dawn"
This song was born at a time of deep, desperate loneliness. I had been unlucky in romance for years, suffering through terrible dates, heartbreaks, cruel men and disappointments, while watching all my friends find their person, get married, have cats and dogs and kids and Volvos, build their dream homes. I was running out of hope, truly starting to believe it might never happen for me. That I'd be a 30-year-old Cat Lady with a dream that never came true, this vivid fantasy of a life with someone. A quiet happiness. A home. Books. Trees. Tea with the smell of coffee in the morning.
It felt like more than a daydream. A premonition, maybe. Or a musical prayer. So I put it in song, a life in such vivid detail that it was unfathomable it never came to be. This way, at least it would exist somewhere.
And then...
He let the dawn in.
I hope this song does the same for you.
